Chartres is fabulous! We began the day in different ways. Some went to the Cathedral to make arrangements for the choir, others went on a walking tour of the city (including the lovely area along the river), while others rested in a bit. After a late morning rehearsal and lunch, we toured the Chartres Cathedral and prepared to sing.
The concert was received by an enthusiastic and huge audience. "Hope, Faith, Life, Love" was so powerful that it became quite emotional for the audience and the choir. If this was any indication of how the tour will proceed, we are in for rare experiences indeed.
The late afternoon and evening were filled with walking, shopping, dining out, and enjoying the "Lumiere." Tomorrow we will head back to Paris for the concert at Notre Dame and a day on the city before the night train to Florence. Until then...
I'd love to know if you met a tour guide named Malcolm Miller. He led tours there for years. I'm so glad you all got to see Chartres. How lovely!
